Are electronic signatures legally binding?

Yes.
According to the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-Sign act) of 2000, documents signed and transmitted electronically are recognized as legal digital signatures if they meet the following criteria:
E-Sign Act Criteria eSigTek's Process
An electronic sound, symbol or process. The user signs each section with a mouse click, which meets the process criteria.
It must be attached to a contract or other record. We attach the signer's name and the date and time of the signature to each document. This information is stored online in a secure digital file.
It must be adopted by a person with an interest in signing. Each signer must agree to this process before signing.
You can see from the above table that eSigTek offers all the necessary elements for a legally binding signature that will prove valid in a court of law.

Can the documents be changed after they are signed?

No.
Don't let others fool you. Our technology is much more than a digital signature. It is a comprehensive online signing process which includes our Document Integrity Verification System™. We create an Integrity Key™, which is like a digital fingerprint of the signed and stored file. This Key allows anyone to verify that signed documents are not changed after the signing process. No paper signing process offers that kind of security!

Will I have to print copies of my documents after they are signed?

No.
We store the original signed document on a secure server. Paid subscriptions will always have access to signed documents in their original state. The person who signed the document will ALWAYS have access to the document for free. This makes it easy for you to prove what someone signed if it is ever contested. You'll be saving money, processing time, and storage space. (Free accounts have limited document history but you can always upgrade to view your old history, or save the documents to your computer for free.)

What type of documents are available through eSigTek?

You can upload your own documents.
Upload any MS Word, Adobe PDF, or MS Excel document you have on your computer. Every account receives unlimited document uploads. There is no limit to the number of pages per document and each upload has a very generous 10mb file size limit. You use the eSigTek Document Builder with easy drag and drop labels to create user input fields and signature buttons. The only limitation currently is that documents can only be sent to and signed by one user. Documents requiring multiple people or witnesses to sign cannot be converted at this point. We will announce when this service is available through our mailing list.

Has an electronically signed document ever been disputed in court?

No.
Since electronic signature technology was introduced in 2000, not one digital signature has been contested.

How long will it take to begin sending documents through eSigTek?
